TAWA

5th MEDICINE MUSIC FESTIVAL

The 5th Medicine Music Festival is coming up.

A great event of music and awareness

in support of the Wiñaypaq School!

August 15-17, 2025

Don't miss it!

5th Medicine Music Festival

The 5th TAWA Medicine Music Festival will take place in the Huandar Community, Pisac District, Cusco, Peru, from August 15-17, 2025. We will continue to enjoy the support of the best national and international artists of this musical genre.

More than 15 hours of music created and performed by the best representatives

who have made melody a true path to consciousness.

We will enjoy three days of medicine music and wonderful encounters,

while students will be able to count on the budget to finance another year of studies.

At the first festival (2014), a seed was planted that soon bore abundant fruit: several festivals in different parts of the world continued the mission of spreading music as a healing art.

Help us make music a part of the transformation of our world.

Once again the power of music, medicine and service,

united to support the education of the students of our WIÑAYPAQ school

In addition to music, we will offer the following activities:

  • Various exhibitions

  • Workshops on agroecology, food, and recycling

  • Vegetarian food from the Pisaq region

  • Yoga

  • Kirtan

The Medicine Music Festival was created in 2014 thanks to the convergence of three great dreams.

The first is to return to art, and especially to music, this sacred dimension that allows it not only to heal but also to transform lives and raise awareness.

The second is to create spaces for face-to-face meetings that allow us to come together and be a real, living force that drives the changes we want to see on our planet.

And third but not least, to obtain funding for our Wiñaypaq Intercultural School ( winaypaqperu.org ) that provides free education to 80 children in Pisac, Cusco. See Video of the Wiñaypaq School

The school is supported solely by friends who make our students' dream of having an education in accordance with their culture and the values of love and gratitude towards our Pachamama possible.

About the Festival

_MG_0029.jpg

Our intention is for this Music Festival to become the school's main support. All artists participate for free and all proceeds are donated entirely to support the school's work.

The children of the School actively participate in the festival with an exhibition of Andean foods, their school projects and a play.

In 2016 and 2018, the second and third Medicine Music Festival took place, with more than 30 artists, managing to finance a large part of the school's annual budget.

This fifth festival is an effort to continue this movement that began in 2014 and that will allow us to obtain part of the financing for the school year.

All we need is your collaboration, whether it's by attending, donating or helping us to share.

What is medicine music?

Medicine Music is a rediscovered concept that comes from the origins of art, when its main mission was to cure and not to accumulate money.

The function of art is not only to "entertain" or "distract." For us, it has a fundamentally re-creative function and this re-creation is an instrument of healing and a great help for the development of consciousness.

Where and how

The Festival will be held this year at the Wiñaypaq School.

The school is located in the community of Huandar, Pisac, Peru.

HOW TO GET THERE

If you're coming from other countries, you'll first need to arrive in Lima, Peru, and then, by plane or bus, reach Cusco. Depending on where you're coming from, it's also possible to arrive directly to Cusco without going through Lima (e.g., there are direct flights from Bogotá to Cusco and Santiago del Chile to Cusco). Once in Cusco, you can take a taxi to Pisac (50 minutes) or take one of the buses to Pisac/Calca that depart from Puputi Street in Cusco.

Once you reach the Pisac bridge, you continue

by taxi or take a motorcycle taxi in the direction

San Salvador. After passing the community

from Huandar, you will find on the right side

a climb up the side of the mountain and a

sign that will say "Medicine Music Festival".

You've arrived!

Ask the mototaxi to get on and drop you off at

the door of the Wiñaypaq School, we will be

waiting for you there!

ACCOMMODATION AND FOOD

At the Festival, you can find vegetarian and local food starting at 11 a.m. There is no camping at the Festival site and we don't offer accommodation, but Pisac has a wide range of accommodations (hostels, hotels, campsites). We don't have any specific accommodation recommendations, but Pisac is a very touristy area; you can search for more information on Google.

General instructions for the Festival

We are very excited to share the TAWA MUSIC FESTIVAL 2025 with you.

Please carefully review all the information we are providing below.

The Wiñaypaq School is organizing this event with love and effort to raise funds for the school and to share a healthy space where we can recreate as a family and unite in the pursuit of a life coherent and in harmony with Pachamama. Thank you for joining us.

OPENING HOURS

● We will begin our program at 11 am PROMPTLY, so we will open the doors at 10 am. We ask that you arrive early.

● We close the doors at 7 pm for the start of the last concert.

and in this way, you'll be supporting the Wiñaypaq school.

● We ask you to pay in cash and bring cash. The same applies to purchases at our community stand

of local artisans and producers.

GENERAL AGREEMENTS

● During the festival, music, good food, and coca leaves will be our medicine. Please refrain from using other plants and/or substances. ● The consumption of alcohol or drugs is not permitted.

LOCATION and TRANSPORTATION

● The festival will take place at the Wiñaypaq school in the rural community of Huandar (Pisaq district). You will find signs

from the town of Pisaq; it is the first community on the road to San Salvador.
